The 2012 Minnesota Beef Cow/Calf Day will be held Thursday, February 9 at America's Best Value Inn in Rochester from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. The topics for the evening's agenda are as follows.
"Pasture and Forage Management for Optimal Production." You depend on your cows and your cows depend on forages; learn more about pasture and forage management and intensive grazing from NRCS specialists.
"Using Genomic Selection in Beef Cattle." Gene or jeans; what's the difference? Learn about the latest advancements in genetic profiling of cattle and how you can use genomic testing in your beef herd from Dr. Zac Hall, Igenity.
"Mineral Supplementation for Beef Production." Please pass the magnesium; learn about mineral requirements for beef cows and how these vital ingredients of a cow's diet impacts productivity at various stages of production from Dr. Grant Crawford, U of M.
"Replacement Heifer Selection & Development." Dr. Allen Bridges, U of M, will discuss proper replacement heifer selection and development strategies.
The cost of registration is $20 per person and includes a meal and proceedings booklet or CD. Please pre-register for the meeting at least one week in advance. Pre-registration: 425-246-6131.
