"Over the Back Fence," a program of The Commonweal Theatre Company, presents a summer series of live music performances at the Events Hall of the new Commonweal Theatre in historic, downtown Lanesboro. The first upcoming event features the Artaria String Quartet on Wednesday, June 16th, and Wednesday, June 23rd, at 7:30 pm.
Named after the Italian family that published the premiere issues of many of the Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven quartets, Artaria's refined and thoughtful playing has brought them critical acclaim in Europe and throughout the United States. The Boston Globe has described Artaria as "exquisitely balanced and sonorous" and that "their musical understanding was first-rate." Based in St. Paul, MN, the quartet has been featured on a Peter Jennings World News Tonight broadcast, and it has given numerous live performances on WGBH Boston and Minnesota Public Radio stations and, in 2004, was awarded the McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians. Members of the quartet also maintain active careers in performing and teaching on the faculties of St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges.
Tickets for the performances are on sale at Commonweal Theatre's Box Office by calling 800-657-7025 or stopping by the theatre at 208 Parkway Ave N, Lanesboro, MN. Admission prices for the concert are $15 for adults, and $10 for students (grade school through graduate school), Commonweal Season Pass holders , and members of Commonweal Theatre's Million Dollar Club.
The Commonweal is a non-profit professional theatre with year-round main stage and educational programming located in historic downtown Lanesboro. For more information, visit www.commonwealtheatre.org or call 800-657-7025.
