Morris Luther Spelhaug

Morris Luther Spelhaug, 90, of Stewartville, Minn. died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at his home.

Morris was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Crosby, N.D., to Christian and Alma (Swenson) Spelhaug. He attended school through the eighth grade. On May 25, 1943, he married Inez Jean Johnson in Winona. Inez worked at Dayton’s as a manager. She passed away in 1990. On June 26, 1996, he married Alice Lorraine Schleuswe in Chatfield, Minn. Alice is a homemaker. Morris farmed until 1969 and also worked for the state in highway landscaping.

Morris was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years; was a Master Mason, a member of the Chatfield Lutheran Church, and Pleasant Grove Riders Saddle Club. He enjoyed horsemanship, traveling, fishing, bowling and woodworking..

Morris is survived by his second wife, Alice; two sons, David (Terri) Spelhaug of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Jerry (Sue) Spelhaug of Chatfield; two stepchildren; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez, two brothers, two sisters, and his daughter, Judy.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Chatfield Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Docken officiating. Burial will be in the Chatfield Cemetery.
