Stephanie Davidson and Laura Nelson perform a skit on “Over the Back Fence.” They’ll sing ‘Mr. Postman’ along with Lynn Bunge and Barb Keith at this month’s Motown show.

Motown is the theme for the upcoming “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show, held on Friday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro, Minn. Michelle Lynn will provide pre-show music beginning at 7:10 p.m. Damon Prestemon will host the show, with Rick Nance on the keyboard. Show highlights will include a dance lesson with the ‘Pips’; readings about The Supremes and Motown; songs like ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’ sung by Carla Joseph and ‘Mr. Postman’ sung by OtBF cast members; jokes, skits and Diane’s Delectable Desserts Quiz; a comedy routine by Lanesboro Arts Center executive director John Davis along with artist Paul Brokken; and music by The Notorious Rutabaga Brothers—including an audience sing-along to ‘Mustang Sally’. In sponsor interviews, we will learn about Green Gables Inn and Huntington Electric.
