Louise Heusinkveld Henderson will share about a mission group to an orphanage called the Musana Children’s home. Musana is a secure home and school in a self sustaining environment.

Meet with Henderson on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 10-11am at The Root River Church of the Brethren 23554 County 20, Rural of Preston, Minn., to hear her speak.

Henderson was in a group of of 12 from the Flatiron Community Church at Lalayette, Co., near Denver. They went there to protect the Musana landscape from erosion during the rainy season. The group was there from mid-February until mid-March of 2013 giving help and interacting with the staff and children.

Henderson comments that half of the population is under the age of 12 in Uganda. Fifteen million are orphans and children at risk. A child is not named until they are five years old because of the high mortality rate. The planting consisted of fruit trees and shrubs that would survive in this area of Africa and produce food that could be eaten at Musana.

Henderson learned her early planting skills from her father, Arlyn Heusinkveld and grandfather Ed Heusinkveld, who lived on a farm rural of Preston, Minn.
