Letter about Big Oil

To the Editor,

Freedom of choice. Americans treasure it, and Big Oil wants to eradicate it. Recently the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Big Oil’s efforts to limit Americans’ choices of alternatives to petroleum. So now, in an effort to preserve their monopoly, the American Petroleum Institute is launching a campaign called “Fuel for Thought”, reciting a bunch of half-truths and misrepresentation to abolish the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). That would be very good for Big Oil’s bottom line and bad for all consumers. The renewable fuels industry does not have the big subsidies and money that the oil industry has to influence these things, but we have popular support and I believe the people do not support monopolies. Let’s preserve the Renewable Fuel Standard. Call your Congressional delegation and tell them it is time to end Big Oil’s monopoly. Support the RFS.
