The old Lenora United Methodist Church in Fillmore County was the site of a "Flag Day Celebration" over the weekend. People from around the area gathered at the historic church to worship and to consider the meaning and symbolism of the American flag. It was the first worship service in the old church since a new wood shingle roof was installed this spring. The historic church is on the National Register of historic buildings and is in the midst of a fund raising effort for preservation and maintenance of the church building and surrounding property. Financial donations may be mailed to the church's treasurer at P.O. Box 415 Mabel, MN 55954. Pastor Mark Woodward and Certified Lay Speaker John Goutcher led the Flag Day Service. Mr. Marlin Miner provided photos of the event as well as photos of the new cedar roof.
