County fairs are a staple event, especially in the great Midwest of the United States. Fillmore County is gearing up for the 2013 annual Fillmore County Fair to be held this week from Tuesday, July 23 through Saturday, July 27. Food, fun, exhibits, thrilling entertainment and much more are all wrapped into one week.

After working since the conclusion of last year’s county fair, the Fillmore County Fair Board has been working diligently to plan another successful year. The week will start with general project judging on Monday, July 22 and Open Class entry kicks off on Tuesday, July 23 with numerous categories ranging from food to photography and everything in between.

The swine show, horse show, poultry show, rabbit show, dairy show, and many more events will emphasize the presence and importance of agriculture of our small-town, rural communities.

In addition each evening will consist of either grandstand or entertainment building events. From Church Night beginning on Tuesday to the Demolition Derby planned for Saturday evening, it will be hard not to be entertained. Other nightly events include Bull Riding, the Triple B Rodeo, and even an arm wrestling contest.

There will also be musical entertainment throughout the week featuring Doug Otto and the Get Aways, Troubleshooter, Rhino, and the Dirt Road Prophets.

And don’t forget about the special armband hours for the midway!
