WINONA, Minn. – The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Winona has now been serving Winona and the surrounding communities for 10 years. The ReStore opened its doors on July 27, 2003, becoming the first ReStore to open in the state of Minnesota. There are now 10 other ReStores throughout the state. All ReStore profits are funneled back into the Habitat for Humanity affiliate to be used to partner with families in building simple, decent, affordable home construction projects. Due to the financial success of Winona’s Habitat ReStore, homes for two additional families in Winona have been constructed through net profits and donated materials used directly in home construction. Through a unique partnership with Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity, the Winona Habitat ReStore also supports home construction in Olmsted County.

Since opening, the Winona ReStore has diverted over 2,223 tons (approximately 4.5 million pounds) of trash from local landfills.

The Winona ReStore invites the public to help celebrate this special milestone by visiting the store this week, starting Wednesday July 10, for the 10th Anniversary Grand ReOpening. In addition to various sales, customers and donors may sign up each day for prize drawings. Everyone who signs up will also be entered to win the grand prize, a $100 ReStore gift certificate, to be drawn at the end of the week. As usual, the ReStore will be accepting donations during this week of celebrations.
