The Houston Lions Club built a beautiful band shell in Trailhead Park located at 215 West Plum Street in Houston, Minn.

In the summer of 2010, they provided the start up funds to develop a summer music program. As the sun goes down and the lights come on, the superior acoustics and brilliant lighting effects provide this music program with a very unique experience.

Our music series is different from others in that we are in part an educational program. Each band plays for 1 to 1 1/2 hours then takes a break. After the break the band provides an activity for people to join in the fun. This may be dancing, an open mike sing along, bluegrass style jam, or what ever the group chooses.

Countdown to our first concert has begun! We will start our series on July 10, 2013 with a local favorite “Jake and Sons.”

Jake Olson is the band director for the Rushford-Peterson Schools.

They will host a sing-a-long favorites after their concert.

Jake Olson and his three sons Glen, Lyn and Sid are from rural Hokah, Minn. The have been performing and entertaining locally for the past five years.

The group enjoys playing various styles of music from pop, light rock and country classics to jazz standards.

Glen, 20 years old, plays lead guitar and will be a junior at University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Lyn, 18 years old, plays percussion and will be a senior at La Crescent High School. Sid, 14 years old, plays bass and sings vocals and will be a freshman at La Crescent High School. Jake, who has been a music teacher at Rushford-Peterson for the past 25 years covers various instruments along with vocals.
