High Tea for High Waters Raises $1,300 and Immeasurable Hope

On May 12, women from the Lanesboro United Methodist Church hosted a “High Tea for High Waters.” Over 100 people gathered for delicate desserts, elegant table settings and time together. Through ticket sales and donations, the event raised $1,300.

The next week, young people from the church used some of the money to prepare four cleaning buckets through the United Methodist Committee on Relief, most likely headed to Oklahoma. Supplies included things like bleach and insect repellent, gloves and sponges.

From June 16-21 19 people from the Lanesboro community served in Moose Lake, Minn. doing post flood reconstruction on three homes. The work included framing in basements, paneling, sheet rocking and even a little demolition! Funds from the High Tea supported this mission trip.

“We do the mission trips to be the hands, heart and voice of God’s love in the world. We encourage hope to flourish and help young people learn service and leadership skills while having fun.” relates Pastor Amanda Larsen. For more information on future mission trips, or to invite a speaker to come to your organization, please contact the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.
