"Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2 NIV
As summer travel has begun, maybe you are concerned about safety on the highway. "Click it or ticket" is a warning to buckle up. Ads by insurance companies fill the airways. But insurance and preventative measures can't protect against every circumstance.
The eyewitness to the crash saw the old Buick flip end over end in the air. The damage to the car was total with both ends smashed in. Surely, the driver would be dead, and yet there was some movement. Going to the car, the eyewitness heard a clear, elderly voice call, "Could you help me? I can't seem to find my glasses." The elderly woman, who had been driving too fast for conditions, walked away from the crash site with a minor cut to her face. Her family believes she was protected because she was deeply religious and praying even as she lost control of the car. This is a true story. You may know others who put their faith in God, but did not walk away from the crash.
What kind of policy can best protect your family from a careless driver? The answer is God. God's guardian angels can protect the loss of life, or escort believers into the presence of God forever. According to the Bible, a believer in Jesus has a new relationship with God. Whether we live or die, God has become "my salvation." While "on vacation" this summer, I hope to see you in church!
