WINONA, Minn. – Habitat for Humanity Winona – Fillmore Counties invites you to attend a community celebration to welcome the Horton/Baumann family to their new home on Thursday, June 20 at 230 Railroad Street in Utica, Minn. A housewarming celebration and home dedication will begin at 5:30 pm The general public is encouraged to attend, as well as volunteers and donors who have contributed to the construction of this and other Habitat homes.

The Utica home is the 48th to be completed by Habitat for Humanity Winona – Fillmore Counties since the organization began in 1994. The home will be purchased by Jessica Horton and Josh Baumann and their three children with a 30-year, zero percent interest mortgage. The family has contributed over 300 hours of “sweat equity” into the home, working alongside local community members, church groups, businesses, and school groups to complete the home.

“We are just so excited to be a part of opening this new door for Josh and Jessica and their family,” said John Corcoran, Habitat’s Construction Manager. “They have been working hard and are looking forward to settling into their new home this summer. This is the first home we have built in Utica, and Habitat is thankful for the partnerships we have created throughout the project.”

The celebration will include a blessing of the home, words of appreciation from Habitat representatives and the future homeowners, presentation of the house keys, and recognition of community volunteers. While closing paperwork will be completed at a later date, Horton and Baumann will be signing their “symbolic mortgage” at the dedication ceremony. Light refreshments will be served.
