The University of Minnesota Extension will be conducting a workshop in Rochester that addresses information & strategies for agricultural workforce management. It is supported by AgStar Financial Services with promotional assistance from The Minnesota Milk Producers Association, Minnesota Dairy Initiative, St. Cloud Technical & Community College, and The Minnesota Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association.

The full-day workshop “Employment Skills for Today – Planning for Success.” is filled with practical information and strategies to help farm families’ deal with the regulatory and management aspects associated with a hired workforce.

“Employment Skills for Today – Planning for Success,” participants get a greater understanding of legal and tax issues related to labor workforce management. Specifically, sessions will address what tasks employers must do in order to properly document workers and will cover the newly revised Form I-9. Maintaining effective communication with employees is addressed along with the hiring process and employee compensation.

Since great diversity exists with our current available workforce, the workshop will also address cultural differences employers will likely encounter.

“Employment Skills for Today – Planning for Success” is scheduled for Rochester—June 17, 2013 from 10am until 3pm at the UCR-Heintz Center, Room HA112, 1926 College View Road SE, Rochester, MN 55904

The workshops are free, but space is limited. Lunch is included. To register, please contact Bobbi Ruesch at 507-337-2801 or email Bobbi at
