Tue, May 21st, 2013
Posted in Spring Valley The Great Outdoors

For several days the National Weather Service has been predicting strong storms that would be affecting NE Iowa and SE Minnesota and their warnings started on Sunday afternoon. It started out as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, advanced to a Warning and then a Tornado watch. The rain started late in the afternoon and continued until the early morning hours of Monday. The Spring Valley Fire Department supplied 12 of their personnel to storm watch and assist in closing off streets.

There were no injuries reported from the rising Spring Valley Creek and no major damage to power lines or trees. Emergency Management, Law Enforcement, Ambulance and Fire Department stood guard until the rain stopped and the creek receded.

One area hit very hard was the Root River Golf Course.
