BluffCountryFossils.com, in cooperation with SE MN HBC, has created a “Fossil Trail” in Bluff Country. The new website and fossil adventure blog created by Beverly Sandlin, a fossil enthusiast and substitute teacher in Spring Valley, was created at the request of Warren Netherton, Mystery Cave Manager. But the recognition of how fossilized this area of Minnesota is, has lead to the creation of a committee in Harmony working on a FossilFest for 2014.

The Fossil Trail includes 5 exhibits:

1. Houston Nature Center's exhibit of fossilized woolly mammoth teeth and a giant bison skull.

2. BluffCountryFossils.com display of common fossils found in bluff country at the SE MN HBC Regional Tourism Center in Rushford that features the art of Mike Menasco of theartindulgence.com and an avid fossil hunter from North Branch, MN.

3. A five foot cephalopod on display, karst topography, and sinkhole displays at the Harmony Visitor Center.

4. The fossil display at Niagara Cave and in the Top Ten Rated cave itself.

5. Mystery Cave--The largest Ordovician fossil display (older than the dinosaurs) in bluff country that includes cephalopods embedded in the ceiling of the cave.

For more information about these exhibits, please go to the BluffCountryFossils.com blog.
