Lanesboro, Minn. – Johnsmith will be welcomed back to the stage at the St. Mane Theatre for a concert on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Johnsmith is a singer, a songwriter, a poet and a storyteller. He is a wordsmith and a bard. The role of a bard in every society is to hold up a mirror to that society, to convey and reveal – through the mysterious alchemy of music and words and performance – the secret inner language of the heart. Since his fantastic concert here in 2011, Johnsmith has traveled from his home in Trempealeau, Wisc. to his beloved Ireland, performing with his guitar near and far in between. Award-winning musician Tom Kimmel has this to say about Johnsmith: “It’s clear that he’s lived the pain in his songs and that his optimism is hope born of wisdom. That’s a rare thing and a gift to all who hear him.” Concert tickets are $15 / $12 LAC member, available in advance at Lanesboro Arts Center, 507-467-2446 (gallery hours: Tues-Sat 10-5 and Sun 11-3), or at the St. Mane Theatre the night of performance. The St. Mane Theatre, at 206 Parkway Ave N., is handicapped accessible.

A special treat for audiences will be a sneak preview of Johnsmith’s music the night before the concert, when he will be a guest on the “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show on Friday, May 10, also at the St. Mane Theatre. Show is at 7:30 p.m. and with a price of just $7 adult / $4 student, tickets sell out early, so call the Arts Center to purchase them in advance.

This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the State’s general fund and its arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.

The concert is presented by the Lanesboro Arts Center, serving the community as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing diverse art experiences for people of all ages. For more information about Lanesboro Arts Center: 507-467-2446 / /
