Lanesboro, Minn. – Snakes! Reptiles & Amphibians! Don’t miss the opportunity to see these on the big screen in the documentary film “Herpers III: Tales from the Field” which features southeast Minnesota as one of five international field locations in the film – along with Costa Rica, Australia and Arizona. Lanesboro’s Evan Thiss is also seen onscreen! The free event will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 3 p.m. at the St. Mane Theatre. Following the film, there will be a discussion with film director Dav Kaufman, focusing on the process of making an independent film. There may even be some lives snakes onstage, too! The St. Mane Theatre, at 206 Parkway Ave N., is handicapped accessible.
The earth is home to more than 15,000 species of reptiles and amphibians. There are those for whom it is more than just a mere passion to venture into the wild to find them all. They are field “herpers” (herpetologists), and the documentary gives a behind-the-scenes look at their adventures. “Herpers III: Tales from the Field” is the most eclectic and diverse compilation of wild reptiles and amphibians ever put on film.
This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature from the State’s general fund and its arts and cultural heritage fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
The event is presented by the Lanesboro Arts Center, serving the community as a regional catalyst for artistic excellence and educational development in providing diverse art experiences for people of all ages.
