This golf fundraising event is being held in partnership with Thrivent Builds, an ongoing home-building partnership between Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Cedar Valley Golf Clubhouse. Activities kick off with a four person shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Golfers are encouraged to take part in the pin events and contests throughout the day, then return to the clubhouse and enjoy a prime rib buffet dinner and a brief awards ceremony.
Registration for the event is $100 per golfer which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, pin events, prizes, lunch and a prime rib buffet dinner. Hole sponsorships are available to businesses who want to support the event. A full hole sponsorship with 4-golf registrations included is $750 or $ 550 without golfers. About Habitat for Humanity Winona-Fillmore Counties
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical, grassroots, Christian organization, dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Habitat partners with homeowner families, the members of the local community, and volunteers to build simple, decent, affordable houses. The houses are sold to those in need at no profit, through no-interest loans.
To qualify for a Habitat home, families must currently live in substandard housing, be unable to obtain a conventional loan from a bank, have the resources to pay a monthly mortgage and be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity. Before moving into a Habitat home, families must contribute 300 hours of “sweat-equity” to the building of the home and must make a modest down payment.
Habitat for Humanity Winona-Fillmore Counties built its first home in Winona County in 1994. Since then, forty six homes have been built.
Volunteers interested in helping with Habitat for Humanity projects or offering donations may call the Habitat for Humanity–Winona County office at 507-457-0003 or visit our website at www.habitatwinona.org.
