St. Paul – This morning, Governor Dayton announced he will drop the business to business portion of his tax plan. Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Pat Shortridge and Deputy Chairwoman Kelly Fenton issued the following statement:
“This is good news for Minnesotans that Governor Dayton saw the folly of his business to business tax, but this is a classic example of trying to put lipstick on a pig.
“The remainder of Dayton’s all tax budget is still very ugly for Minnesota families, small businesses and job creation in our state. You can’t dress it up. The only real solution is to start over with a different approach.
“Today Dayton said, ‘I never thought my proposal was going to pass through the legislative process and become law….’ These are serious times for which Dayton apparently has not put forward a serious budget proposal.
“This is very disappointing to all Minnesotans. We deserve real leadership and a common-sense budget proposal.”
