ST. CHARLES, Minn. – Laura Broadwater has been promoted to Commercial/Ag Banker and Assistant Vice President at Merchants Bank in St. Charles, according to Jim Allen, President of Merchants Bank in St. Charles.
“Laura is a very smart banker, and she has excellent personal skills, which her customers appreciate,” Allen said. “I know her customers enjoy working with her because she truly cares about their outcome.”
Broadwater grew up on a dairy farm in southern Fillmore County. After graduating from Winona State University, Laura started with Merchants in 2004. She began her career as a business banker in St. Charles in 2009.
“I look forward to helping customers continue to obtain loans that enable them to meet their financial goals,” Broadwater said. “Banking can be intimidating, so I strive to make it as easy as possible to understand. For instance, I help customers and potential customers to understand their financial statements, so they know exactly what options are most viable.”
Merchants Bank has $1.28 billion in assets. In addition to St. Charles, Merchants Bank has locations in Winona, Goodview, Rochester, Caledonia, La Crescent, Onalaska, Spring Grove, Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Hampton, as well as the southern Twin Cities metropolitan suburbs of Apple Valley, Cottage Grove, Hastings, Rosemount and Lakeville. The “flagship” Merchants Bank in Winona was founded in 1875. Merchants Bank is a member FDIC and equal housing lender. Merchants Capital, the company’s leasing arm, is based in the Twin Cities. The ownership of Merchants Financial Group is made up of its employees and approximately 400 shareholders, mostly individuals and families from southeastern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin.
