Resident of Glendale, beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Lucille Simonson, loving and devoted wife of the late John M. McCarthy, dear sister of Janice (Charles) Winch and James (Rita) Simonson, and sisters-in-law Maxine Simonson and Joyce Simonson. Alta was a 1962 graduate of Luther College, a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma and a longtime member of the Glendale Women’s Club. Alta had a true love for life; it was always evident through her contagious and unsurpassed laughter. She was a dedicated educator whose influence went far beyond the classroom. Alta loved her students and made a point of always staying in touch with them as years went on.
