Katelyn Ristau, daughter of David and Deb Ristau of Preston, will be competing for the 2013 Minnesota Simmental Queen. The crowning of the 2013 Simmental Queen will take place in Rochester on February 22 at the 40th Annual Minnesota Simmental Association banquet. To be selected to serve as the Minnesota Simmental Association Queen is both an honor and an opportunity for personal growth. The young women who strive to attain this goal are eager to actively promote the Simmental breed of cattle as well as represent both the adult and junior associations.
Katelyn is sophomore at South Dakota State University, Bookings, majoring in Ag Business and involved with campus acitivites. She is a Member of the Block and Bridle Club, and Little International Staff Member. Katelyn has started her own herd of Simmental cattle, takes on an active role in making decisions for the family commercial herd and enjoys showing cattle. Katelyn is also an Alumi of the Fillmore County 4-H and FFA programs. Her family was the 2012 recipient of the Minnesota Simmental Associations Commercial Cow/Calf Producers of the Year.
On Saturday, February 23, the Minnesota Simmental Association will be holding their 40th Annual Simmental Sale at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds. Breeders from the association have consigned 60 lots of top quality Simmental breeding livestock. This year's sale features exceptional bred females, show heifer, herd bull prospects, several embryo packages, flushes, as well as the Pick of Brandt Farm Bred Heifers. The parade of sale cattle will be at 11:00 am and the auction will begin at 1:00pm. For more information contact Minnesota Simmental Association President Adrienne Hilbrands, 320-394-2118 or view the sale catalog online at www.ebersale.com.
