Anna Dierl Hanna, 85, of Lanesboro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Saint Marys Hospital after suffering a stroke.
She was born April 11, 1927, in Eger (Cheb), Czechoslovakia. At the end of World War II she escaped from Czechoslovakia to Augsburg, Germany. Here she met her husband of 61 years, Lewis Hanna, who was serving in the U.S. Army. She traveled throughout the U.S. and Japan during Lewis’ military career settling in Martinez Ga., in 1965. Anna was trained as a seamstress in Europe and continued this career up until her death. In 2004 she and Lewis resettled in Lanesboro to be closer to family. Here she made many friends and brought great happiness to her new found O’Connor family.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Thilos Club.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Hanna of 61 years; daughter, Lydia (Joe) O’Connor of Lanesboro; granddaughter, Tara (Mike) O’Donnell of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; grandson, CW2 Brian (Kelley) O’Connor of Ft. Carson, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Jeffrey Novak of Aliso Viejo, Calif.
