Scott Eugene Copeman, 55, of Spring Valley, died after complications surrounding a twenty day illness, February 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital with his wife Carol at his side.
Scott was born on October 9, 1957, in Great Lakes, Illinois to Roger and Ardis (Olson) Copeman.
He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1976 and continued his education at Rochester Community College.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and managing his certified tree farm. Most of all, Scott loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children Erin and Jon, and his wife Carol. He also loved to collect antique tractors. Scott and Carol began dating in high school and were married June 17, 1978 in Spring Valley. He began his career as a delivery and repair man for Krugel Gas Service in Spring Valley, he later studied Respiratory Therapy. Scott was employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minn. where he furthered his education by obtaining his master degree in adult education from the University of MN. At the time of his death, he was Supervisor of Respiratory Education.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carol; daughter Erin of La Crosse, Wisc.; and son Jon of Austin, Minn.; Mother Ardis Copeman of Spring Valley, Father and Mother-in-law Robert and Violet Grendahl of Chisago City, Minn.; Sister Kim (Scott) Merkel of Spring Valley; Brothers Jeff (Karen) of Chisholm, Minn. and Todd (Ginny Erbe) of Winona, Minn. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Copeman.
Funeral services for Scott E. Copeman were held Monday February 11, 2013, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev Dennis Timmerman and the Rev Laura Fladten officiating.
