Another great year is planned for the “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show, held monthly at the St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro, Minnesota. The 2013 season is packed full of fun themes, featuring our talented local cast and top-notch guest performers like Michelle Lynn, Melissa & Larry, the Chatfield Jazz Combo, Chuck Suchy, and Johnsmith. The season opens on Friday, February 8 with the theme of ‘The 1950s’ and hosted by our favorite man-on-his-toes, Damon Prestemon, with Rick Nance at the piano. Pre-show music begins at 7:10 p.m. with Nick Danielson, and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Highlights will include an appearance by Brad Boice as Elvis, songs like “The Mickey Mouse Club” and “Rock Around the Clock,” memories, fads, slang, and the hula hoop of the 1950s, Diane’s Delectable Doggie Treats (an audience participation give-away), “Betty Crocker,” and a sneak peak of the Lanesboro Community Theater’s production of “Leaving Iowa.” In sponsor interviews, we will learn about Pedal Pushers Café with Angie Taylor, the Fillmore County Journal with Jason Sethre, and the Lanesboro BP/S&A Petroleum.
The “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show is a program of the Lanesboro Arts Center. The show took shape 18 years ago in the St. Mane Theatre, with many of the same cast members involved. “Over the Back Fence” takes the stage at the St. Mane Theatre on 2nd Fridays February through November. Each show will also be broadcast on KFIL Radio 103.1FM at 7 p.m. on the Sunday nine days following each live show. Show tickets are $7 for adults and for $4 students. Advance purchase is recommended, as this show plays to a full house! Tickets are available at the Lanesboro Arts Center, 507-467-2446 (open Tues-Sat), and as available at the St. Mane Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. on show nights.
