With the first Chatfield School Board Meeting of the new year, on January 22 the board started business by organizing board positions. Jerry Chase will once again be board chair, vice chair will be Kathy Schellhammer, Greg LaPlante will be the clerk, and Mike Tuohy will once again be serving as board treasurer. Committees will remain the same for this term.
Superintendent Harris addressed the board beginning with facilities. The superintendent shared that recently the district has continued to look at the district’s building configuration for security and safety. Also, the procedures are very thorough and updated. Harris is putting together a webpage for emergency and crisis management; however not all information will be visible to the public for security purposes. Consolidating into one location will help information and plans be carried out.
In other business the board approved the annual $5,000.00 balance to Chatfield Community Television, which covers the school’s meetings in addition to other city events. Before concluding, the board noted a list of important dates including the February 8 early dismissal at 1:00 PM for a staff development day. There will be no school on February 18 due to President’s Day. Parent teacher conferences are also approaching. Kindergarten through sixth grade conferences will be February 19 and 21 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. High school conferences will be February 19 and 26 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. The next school board meeting is scheduled for February 19 at 7:00 p.m.
