HILDA M. HOFFMANN, 83, of Northfield, Minnesota. Previously, of Preston, (33 years), died January 23, 2013 at the Northfield Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 26 at 11 AM, at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston with Pastor Randy Fossum officiating. Burial will be in Watson Creek Cemetery, Preston.
Hilda was born on September 2, 1929 in Cobden, Minnesota the daughter of Herman and Selma (Beltz) Treichel. Hilda married Sylvester Hoffmann on October 18, 1947. They established Hoffmann's Furniture and Upholstery business in New Ulm which they operated together until 1978 when they relocated to a farm near Preston. While Sylvester continued the upholstery business, Hilda went back to school and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked in this occupation for 17 1/2 years at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. There, she touched the lives of many in tough times and made many lasting friendships among the staff. She was happiest when all of her family was together. Hilda attended St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austin, she enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, sewing and crocheting.
Hilda is survived by her eight children: Linda Havemeier, Randy, Daniel, Kevin (Dao), Debra (Chris) Thompson, Jeffery (Lori), Timothy, and Pamela Hoffmann. 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Walter Treichel, and Oswald (LaVern) Treichel. Also, many nieces, nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.
Friends may call from 5 PM to 8 PM Friday, January 25, 2013 at Thauwald Funeral Home, Preston, Minnesota. Online condolences may be left thauwaldfuneralhomes.com.
