The Perfect Edge continues its monthly featured artist series with a show of original works by Richard Van Genderen. An opening reception will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, July 9th.

Born in Johannisburg, South Africa, Richard Van Genderen's family soon moved to the plains of Zimbabwe, Africa. Surrounded by nature's wild beauty, impressing its laws and wonders upon Richard's creative soul, much of his work exhibits a connection to the natural world, as well as the inherent influence of his African roots.

Richard emigrated to the USA in 1965 and spent time in Europe in search of advanced schooling in traditions of drawing and painting techniques. Once returning to America, Richard's modern odyssey has taken him from the West Coast to Central Mexico and eventually back up to the Midwest where he fell in love with the natural beauty of Northeast Iowa. He has lived in Cresco the past few years.

Richard's exhibit will be on display at The Perfect Edge through July 31st, which is located on 118 Washington Street, Decorah.
