Once again we need to revisit the issue of how long it takes to transfer a title in the State of Minnesota. Unlike our neighbors, Iowa & Wisconsin, where you go to the court house and walk out with a title, here in Minnesota we got to a Deputy Registrar, which is an independent business working as a representative of the state. I am blessed to have one right here in Preston manned by two very knowledgeable people, Kurt Reicks & Dawn Ristau. If you buy a car from a non-Minnesota dealer or private party in or out of the state, you go see these fine folks to transfer your title, which includes paying sales tax, fee’s license bureau and do this for you. And as of right now you will receive a title in 12-14 weeks. So if you are wondering if the title for the car you bought from me is coming soon, please feel free to call me or the Deputy Registrar’s office and we can tell if it has been sent out yet.
