Funeral services for Lucille Serfling will be held 1:30 Sunday December 23, 2012 at the Cherry Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev Beth Perez and Rev Mark Rader officiating. Burial will take place in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7 P.M. Saturday December 22, 2012 at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue at the church for 1hr prior to the services.
Lucille Serfling, age 90, of Spring Valley died Thursday December 20, 2012 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
Lucille Serfling was born May 30, 1922 near Granger, MN to Henrey and Bessie (Hebrink) Klomps. She attended Dog Town School District 118 through the 6th grade and District 99 through the 8th grade. Lucille met her husband while helping out at her oldest sisters home. Lucille married Emmett Serfling on September 25, 1940 by her uncle Rev. Dick Nagle at the parsonage in Hammond, MN where he was pastor. She loved music, she could hear a new song and go home and play it on piano. She also played several other instruments for her enjoyment. She loved to piece quilts, crocheting, knitting and crafts.. She liked gardening, canning, cooking, baking and flowers. She was a stay at home mother and homemaker. Lucille was baptized at the Cherry Grove United Methodist Church. She became a member in 1940 and has been a member ever since.
She is survived by 2 children; Richard (Cheryl) Serfling of Preston, MN and Charlotte (Vern) Stryker of Prinsburg, MN, 6 grandchildren; Lori (Art) Scheevel, Nathan (Jolene) Serfling, Vicki Serfling, Dalen (Jamie) Stryker, Julie (Shannon) Childrey and Jolene (Vince) Shriver she is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emmett on August 3, 1999. 1 grandson in infancy, 2 brothers and their wives and 5 sisters and their husbands, and all of Emmett’s siblings and spouses. She was the last of that generation.
