Shooting in Preston, suspect apprehended in Winona County

According to Sheriff Daryl Jensen, at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Friday, December 21, a man shot a woman one block off of St. Anthony Street in Preston, MN.
The suspect then fled the scene and was pursued by local law enforcement in collaboration with the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department.
Preston Ambulance was called to the scene of the shooting to take the female victim to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Within one hour of the shooting in Preston, Fillmore Central Superintendent administered a lock down at both the High School and the Elementary School, utilizing the school’s automated system to notify parents. When the school is in lock down, nobody may enter or leave the building.
The shooting suspect was apprehended in Winona County following a pursuit by local and county law enforcement.
At approximately 1:45 p.m., following the apprehension of the suspect, both the Fillmore Central High School and Elementary School were released from lock down.
As of 2:45 p.m. today, Sheriff Daryl Jensen indicated he will be releasing a statement within the next 30 minutes regarding the incident in Preston.
At this time, the names of the victim and the suspect have not been released. There will be more information to follow, as it is released by the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department.
