To the Editor,
This is Preposterous!
Tell me how you can live in a house without constantly repairing and upgrading it. When you need a new roof, are you going to go buy a new house? When you need new floors, are you going to go buy a new house? When you need new windows, are you going to just go and buy a new house? If you answer yes to any or all of those questions, either you have a lot of money to waste or you are asinine.
Just as you cannot live in a house without repairs, you cannot maintain a school without proper repairs and upgrades as well. The lifespan of a roof is about 20-25 years, windows should be replaced maybe every 25 years, and depending on the floor type, you may need to upgrade every 30 years.
EVERYTHING that goes into a building needs to be upgraded or replaced sometime. You’re not going to move out of your home every time you need to fix something in it, so why do we “need” a new school because we need to replace parts of it? We don’t.
I would invest in a new school for the kids if it was necessary, but it is not. I will not waste my money on everything new. And I will definitely not waste it on a school that has an administration that never supported me or my decisions during my entire high school career there. Voting “yes” on December 19 is the most preposterous request this school has ever asked of me and the entire Rushford-Peterson School District.
I voted no. Will you?
