Harmony, Minn. – Habitat for Humanity Winona – Fillmore Counties will be having a wall raising celebration at its Harmony house on Saturday, November 17. Habitat broke ground on the house last spring, and they are now celebrating the new family that will purchase the home once it’s complete.
Teri Root, future homeowner, works for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a Patient Appointment Coordinator. She grew up in Fillmore County, but is currently living in Cresco, Iowa. Once the home is completed next spring, Teri will purchase the home from Habitat for Humanity for a 30-year zero percent interest mortgage. Her mortgage payments will help to build future Habitat homes.
“I wanted to be in the area where I grew up, that’s where I want to raise my kids. I want them to go to the school I went to and take part in the activities I was lucky enough to take part in” said Teri. “I want to raise my family in the Harmony/Preston area and this home will give me the opportunity to do that, to be where I feel safe, comfortable, and around people that make you feel welcome in a great community.”
Because the exterior walls have already been raised, Saturday’s wall raising celebration will focus on the interior walls. The celebration begins at 8:30 am at 165 Niagara Court NW in Harmony, MN. All are welcome to attend and meet Teri and her children.
