The monthly meeting of the Ostrander City Council was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Linda Schwenn. All council members were present.
Approval of Consent Agenda
Motion by Kunert, and seconded by Thompson and unanimously carried to accept the consent agenda.

DEPARTMENT HEADS
Public Works Director—Jimmie Dean—Was present. Council approved monthly report.
The new city office is ready to be painted.
Fire Chief—Jimmie Dean—Was present. Council approved monthly report.
The city is receiving notices that reports are not being turned in by their due dates: On March 31st, these were due; RF-11, SC-11, MBW-11, SID-11. By August 1st; SC-12 & MBW-12 were also due.
Police Chief—Tom Mosher— Was present. Council approved monthly report.
OLD BUSINESS
Sign Retroreflectivity Evaluation and Maintenance Policy—Rhonda spoke with Chris Smith regarding this. The deadline has been extended to 2014. Chris is hoping to have a model policy ready for cities in the Spring 2013.
Councilmember Thompson was wondering if there should be some reimbursement from Rural Fire Dept for the insurance on their vehicles? Rhonda has included information from other cities on what they do. Rhonda also spoke to Mike Sourahda and he said he wouldn’t be able to make it to the meeting. He said that they could reimburse the city for this amount, if that is what council would like.
Cement barriers for donated Lund property—$3,600 for 12; Rhonda contacted Red Man Construction $3,412.24 for 29 Bollards—Rhonda will get some cost ideas on planters (quite expensive). In council packets, there are some bids on different hedges from the Spring Valley Greenhouse. 4-H and Pauline King have expressed interest in helping with this project, too. Motion by Nesler, and seconded by Start and unanimously carried to accept the bid from Spring Valley Greenhouse & Floral for the Acer Ginnala Bailey compact Amur Maple in the spring of 2013.
Trinity is getting new chairs. It was questioned if the city would like some folding chairs for the new office, depending on the price. They are being sold for $3 each. Motion by Kunert, and seconded by Thompson and unanimously carried to purchase 40 folding chairs.
It was brought up again about Mike Rohrer & Michelle Miller to extend their stack because of smoke. Rhonda will send a letter.
NEW BUSINESS
Kruegels/LP & K&H/LP—Motion by Thompson, and seconded by Kunert and unanimously carried to accept the bid for 5,000 gallons through Kruegels for $1.259 for city offices. Motion by Thompson, and seconded by Start and unanimously carried not to include the new city office (Co-op bldg). Motion by Start, and seconded by Nesler and unanimously carried to use K&H LP services for the new city office bldg and to pay as we need it.
2013 Levy and preliminary budget—Special Meeting scheduled for September 13th @ 6:30 p.m.
Notice of Public Meeting on 2013 Budget and Levy. Scheduled for December 4th, 2013 @ 7:30 p.m.
Election Judges—For the General Election Rhonda has contacted Lori Hubka and/or Merlin Christenson. Motion by Thompson, and seconded by Nesler and unanimously carried to accept Lori and Merlin as Judges.

Jimmie brought up a past due bill that needs to be taken care of. After much discussion, Motion by Nesler, and seconded by Start and unanimously carried to have this bill paid in full by October 1st.

Jimmie will be gone from September 9th to the 14th and return on the 15th.
Sealed Bid info old squad car (Crown Victoria)—Sealed bid information will be included in water bills
