I have written about the Old Barn Resort before, but it is definitely worth revisiting for many reasons.
This is one of those places that melds well with its natural surroundings.
Whether golfing within the valley along the Root River and the Root River State Trail, fishing and camping in the tree-filled campground, or simply grabbing a bite to eat at the restaurant, the Old Barn Resort is a place where my family continues to make memories.
Shirley, the owner, and her staff prepare excellent food and make this stop a fun place to tell people about.
On the evening of October 9, 2012, I asked my wife if we could just take the easy route for dinner and stop by the Old Barn Resort. That sure beats having to cook for yourself, and then somebody else does the dishes!
So, she agreed.
What’s always interesting to me when we go out to eat is that I can always recall what I had for dinner, and I can never remember what anyone else ordered. However, after I am done with my meal, I look around the table and wait for others to tap-out from dining fatigue. Whatever anyone else in the family can’t finish, I’m there to finish the job.
I guess it’s always been that way since I was a little kid.
I fear the day it catches up with me.
I guess this means I will have to just train harder for the Fillmore County Turkey Day Run.
Well, in case you were wondering, I had the Jalapeno Bacon Cheddar Burger.
I always love spicy food, so this stood out on the menu like a pot of gold.
I absolutely enjoyed my burger. And, they seriously have dynamite fries. Delicious! As I’ve said before, they always have great food at the Old Barn Resort.
We’ve been there for the Mother’s Day Brunch and the Easter Brunch, and they have something to brag about.
I can’t remember all of the food I consumed, but I do remember the delicious ribs -- finger lickin’ good!
To me, we are very fortunate to have the best family-owned restaurants in the region right here in our backyard.
I prefer our local restaurants over any cookie-cutter chain restaurants in the big city.
Yes, the Old Barn Resort dining experience comes with two finger lickin’ thumbs up!
You can find the Old Barn Resort on Hwy. 17 between Preston and Lanesboro. They also have a website: www.barnresort.com.
