MANKATO, MINN. (October 9, 2012) – AgStar Financial Services proudly presented a $10,000 donation to affiliates from the Minnesota and Wisconsin chapters of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure at the annual Saddle Up for the Cure event in Rogers, MN on Oct. 7.
While October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, all year long the AgStar team has been joining hands for breast cancer awareness and education. The donation was a result of a campaign AgStar initiated earlier this year with crop insurance sales.
Throughout the campaign, AgStar team members handed out leather work gloves embroidered with a pink ribbon in support of breast cancer awareness to clients. For every pair of pink ribbon gloves given away, AgStar donated $1 to the Minnesota and Wisconsin affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in honor of AgStar clients and team members who have been affected by breast cancer.
“Chances are someone you care about has been impacted by breast cancer. At AgStar, we like to think of awareness as risk management. Early detection tests save lives,” explained Dave Farm, vice president of relationship management for AgStar. “Our goal is to help share inspiring stories and do what we can to help increase awareness and early detection,” shared Farm.
In addition to the donation, AgStar is increasing awareness with this inspiring video about why they’ve joined hands for breast cancer awareness. Visit AgStar.com/Pink for more information.
AgStar served as a sponsor of the Saddle Up for the Cure event which is a unique trail ride hosted by the Minnesota Equestrienne Club. Money raised at this event supports funding national research and statewide breast cancer screening, education and treatment programs through Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
“AgStar is proud to join hands with amazing groups like the equestrienne club and Susan G. Komen for the Cure to raise awareness and education,” said Farm. “Our mission is to enhance life and agriculture in rural America. Healthcare is a critical component to this. While there are thousands of lives saved each year, many more could be saved if even more women and their health care providers took advantage of tests for early detection and we want to do our part to increase awareness.”
