The Preston Historical Society will have the O’Hara Schoolhouse open for visitors on Saturday, October 27, 2012, for a Fall Event and Open House. The event will run from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
The featured display will be the Preston High School Pictures from 1911- 1959. They have been donated to the Preston Historical Society by Fillmore Central Schools. The pictures will be on display at the O’Hara Schoolhouse located on the Fillmore County Fairgrounds in Preston.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to view the restored O’Hara School. Restoration work has included interior and exterior painting, reroofing, new steps, new and repaired windows, and repaired bell tower, complete with the bell.
Another new addition is the recently donated picture of George Washington, framed and displayed in the Preston High School. It was framed by Heitner Furniture and Funeral Home in 1922 for the ‘new’ school.
Historical Society members will be on hand to share refreshments with visitors. Stop by for some historical reminiscing.
