Letter about Voter ID

Fri, Oct 19th, 2012
Posted in Lanesboro Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

Let Grandma & Grandpa Vote!

The Voter ID amendment would make voting difficult for many of our seniors. For those who live in a Care Center or do not drive, getting the photo ID with current address means bringing a birth certificate to the County Seat and completing an application in person. Some seniors don’t even have a birth certificate.

The amendment would require money and time to obtain the birth certificate, plus transportation and stamina to apply in person. On election day, the voter would again need to arrange for transportation to vote in person, instead of the system that currently works by providing absentee and mail-in voting.

Protect voting rights for all eligible, law-abiding Minnesotans. VOTE “NO” ON VOTER ID.
