Lynn “Mike” Keck age 64, of rural Decorah, IA, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco. A Scripture Service will be held Saturday, Sept 29 at 10:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Plymouth Rock, rural Cresco with Fr. Dennis Cahill officiating. Interment will follow at St. Agnes, Plymouth Rock Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony.
Mike was born October 17, 1947 in Decorah, the son of James and Irene (Ward) Keck. He was a 1965 graduate of the Canton High School. On July 26, 2003 he married Priscilla Dyreson at their home in rural Decorah. Mike farmed in Winneshiek County and since 1993 was a welder at Featherlite. Mike was a handy man around the house and with his carpentry skills built their garage and pole shed. He also enjoyed fishing, vegetable gardening, was a pool player and a member of several pool leagues. Over the years Mike was able to collect an entire set of Christmas Budweiser Beer Steins. Mike and Priscilla both enjoyed watching and feeding birds. They also had two labs they’ve had since 2000 that they raised from pups.
Mike is survived by his wife, Priscilla, of rural Decorah; four children, Michelle (Dan) Albertson of Calmar, JoAnn (Scott) Fairchild of Burr Oak, James (Kim) Keck of Decorah and Jerry (Torie) Keck of Ossian; Priscilla’s children, Stuart (Amy) Dyreson of Glenwood, MN and Jeff (Kirstin) Dyreson of Preston, MN. Together Mike and Priscilla have many grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mike is further survived by two sisters, Helen (Zeno) Kappes of Decorah and Kathy (Dave) Frederick of West Branch, IA. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Keck.
Honorary casket bearers are Ronald Hageman, Jeff Dyreson, Lee Dyreson and Scott Steffansen. Casket bearers are Terry, John, Randy, David and Mark Ryan and Troy Knox.
