Steven Robert Miller, 26, address unknown, appeared before Judge Robert Benson at the Fillmore County Courthouse on September 10, 2012. He was charged with two counts of Predatory Offender Registration Violation, each with a maximum penalty of five years in jail, $10,000 or both. The charges stem from Miller allegedly not complying with his registration requirements when law enforcement could not contact him or find where he was living. He paid $1,000 conditional bail.
Jeremy James Shoemaker, 28 of Zumbrota, also appeared in court on September 10, 2012. He was charged with three counts of Theft- take/use/transfer movable property, each with a maximum penalty of five years in jail, $10,000 or both. The charges stem from an incident in which Shoemaker and his brother allegedly stole a truck from Spring Valley and took it to a salvage yard for money. Shoemaker was released on his own recognizance and given $10,000 unconditional bail. His next court appearance is October 1.
On September 11, 2012, Joey Jerome Bigelow, 41 of Rochester, appeared before Judge Benson. He was found guilty of Drugs in the 5th Degree- Possess Schedule 1,2,3,4- not a small amount of marijuana. He was sentenced to 15 months at the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, which was stayed for five years. He was also given 180 days in the Fillmore County jail, with credit for 153 days served, and five years supervised probation.
Leroy Eddie Helwig, 44 of Spring Valley, was found guilty of Criminal Sex Conduct in the 3rd Degree on September 11, 2012. He was sentenced to 36 months in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility, which was stayed for 15 years, 365 days in the Fillmore County Jail with credit for 153 days served, and 15 years supervised probation.
