To the Editor,
When I moved to Minnesota in 2007 from Pennsylvania I was in the dark about Minnesota politics. As an independent, I usually vote fore the incumbent in local elections as long as there is no notoriety or scandal involved. I did bring some interest in vital issues however, especially those dealing with spousal and child abuse, since they have effected me personally. I was shocked to hear Fillmore Family Services, a non-political agency dedicated to serving the victims of these crimes was closing its doors after September! They have a modest budget of $200,000, 80 percent of which came from the Office Of Justice programs. I am also shocked Greg Davids, our representative didn’t fight to keep these vital programs and voted to de-fund. Greg Davids did see fit to vote for a 500 million dollar boondoggle to pay for the Viking colossus, far from Filmore County. That is why I will be supporting Ken Tschumper this November, someone who cares about innocent victims of domestic violence.
