On Monday, September 10, marathon runner and veteran, Mike Ehredt, will arrive in Preston, one of 79 stops along his 79-day journey. Ehredt started out from International Falls on August 23 and is currently running a marathon a day in honor of fallen soldiers from the Afghanistan war. Mike starts his run every morning around 6am and ends around 2pm, stopping every mile to plant a flag inscribed with the name of a fallen American soldier. His journey is scheduled to end on November 9 at the Gulf of Mexico in Galveston, Texas.
Last year, Ehredt ran his first Project America Run starting on the Pacific Coast in Astoria, Oregon, and ended on the Atlantic Coast in Rockland, Maine. Visit www.projectamericarun.com to learn more, or look him up on youtube.
Those interested in meeting Mike and learning more about Ehredt’s Project America Run are invited to gather near the city park pavilion next to the Preston Trailhead on the 10th at 3:30pm. Please bring a lawn chair if possible. Special thanks to the Trailhead Inn & Suites for providing Mike with a comfortable night’s rest so he can get up bright and early to run yet another marathon.
