EDNA B. ANDERSON, age 93, of Mabel, Minnesota died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel.
Edna was born April 15, 1919 in Newburg, Minnesota to Roy and Clara (Skorgen) Iverson. She attended the Newburg School and graduated from the Mabel High School. On August 30, 1938 she married Ordell Anderson in Waukon, Iowa. They farmed in Preble Township, Fillmore County, Minnesota for several years until Ordell’s passing in 1984. She resided on the farm with their son, Calvin, until 2006 when she became a resident of the Green Lea Manor Nursing Home in Mabel. She was a member of the Newburg United Methodist Church and the Newburg Garden Club, and enjoyed her flower garden and trips with Ordell on the Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Edna is survived by four children Jean (Shorty) Betz of Caledonia, Carolyn (Lorris) Siewert of Lake City, and Linda Hillman and Calvin Anderson both of Mabel; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother LeRoy (Jean) Iverson of Decorah, Iowa, and sister-in-law Audrey Iverson of Mabel. She was preceded in death by her husband Ordell; a great- granddaughter Taylor Johnson; daughter-in-law Ann Anderson; brother Wallace Iverson; and sister Gladys Franklin.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Newburg United Methodist Church in rural Mabel with Pastor David Stoeger, officiating. Burial will be in the Choice Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Monday, September 3 at the Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel and one hour prior to services at the church.
