The final on-farm dairy meeting offered by University of Minnesota Extension this summer will be held Thursday, September 20, 9:30am-12:00pm (Winona County) at the Kieffer Farm, Gary & Linda Kieffer, 26234 Cty Rd 33, Utica, MN. The farm is located south of Utica, approximately 1.5 miles south of MN Hwy 14.
You will see the three Lely robotic milkers and the two additional robots the Kieffers added in 2012. They milk about 320 cows with RHA over 27,000 lb. Discussions at the field day will cover nutrition concerns with robotic milkers, economics of robots, associated technologies available with robotic milkers, and impacts on the family after changing to robotics
Farming Based Sustainability Survey
Regional Extension Educator for Dairy, James Paulson jcp@umn.edu, has created a short 25 question survey that has been posted on at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/UMN-sustainability. The survey targets your thoughts on what is going to affect our dairy operation in the future. Please consider participating if you have a dairy operation.
