Lanesboro, MN – Saturday and Sunday evenings, September 8 and 9, the Lanesboro Community Theater will premiere two showings of their own locally produced silent movie in Sylvan Park. The movie stars a cast of dozens of local residents and visiting guests as they work with directors Barbara Benson Keith and Sandy Webb and a local crew of production volunteers to enact a few transformed fairytales.
Enjoy live musical entertainment at 7:30 p.m. both evenings. The movie begins at 8 p.m. Episodes include hilariously off-kilter local versions of Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin and The Three Riders and the Trail Troll (Three Billy Goats Gruff). Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. Sit back and have some laughs at this completely original, family-friendly entertainment event. Friends of the Lanesboro Library will be on hand selling movie refreshments. In case of rain, the film will be shown at Lanesboro’s Community Center in Sylvan Park.
Admission is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. Sylvan Park is located next to the Community Center at 202 Parkway Avenue South, Lanesboro, MN. Visit the Lanesboro Community Theater via their webpage LanesboroCommunityTheater.blogspot.com or check out the theater’s Facebook page. This silent movie event is sponsored in cooperation with the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council, Inc., through funding from the Minnesota State Legislature.
