LORETTA A. TART, age 92, of rural Spring Valley, Minn., died Wednesday morning, June 6, 2012, at the Stewartville Care Center.
Loretta was born April 28, 1920, the daughter of Gustave and Augusta (Winters) Bornfleth in Forestville Township, Fillmore County, Minn., the farm on which she spent almost her entire life. She attended country school. She married George Tart January 8, 1944, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley. On September 6, 1949, following the death of her sister, seven of her nieces and nephews came to live with her and her husband. On May 4, 1956, the couple was blessed with a son, Leslie William Tart. She farmed, was a homemaker, milked and tended her garden. George died March 31, 1978, and Loretta became a resident of the Stewartville Care Center in late 2010.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Matthew (Kristi) Tart of Becker, Christopher Tart of rural Spring Valley and Leslie Tart of Chatfield; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Owen Tart; and six nieces and nephews, Gust (Margaret) Lex, Loren (Joan) Lex, Harriet (Gerald) Truman, Carole (Roger) Reicks, Laura (Charlie) Frank and Shearam (Peggy) Lex. She was preceded in death by one son, Leslie; one sister Frances Bornfleth; and one niece, Eleanor Eggerichs.
