Everett E. Junge, age 80, of rural Harmony, Minn., died Sunday morning, June 3, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Everett was born August 23, 1931, in rural Mower County, west of Spring Valley, Minn., the son of William and Margaret (Long) Junge. He was raised in rural Wykoff and the Prairie Queen area of rural Preston. He attended Prairie Queen School and graduated from Preston High School in 1950. He farmed with his brother LeRoy until he was drafted into the US Army in February 1954. He served for two years attending signal school in Georgia and then being stationed at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. Upon his discharge, he returned to farming on a farm west of Harmony in the Bristol Center area while also attending Veterans Agriculture classes in Fillmore Co. He married Eleanor Scheevel July 12, 1958, at St. Columban Catholic Church in Preston. They made their home on the farm west of Harmony, moving to Bristol Center in 2001 where they resided until his death.
Everett farmed before semi-retiring and driving semi, working at Gehling sales, the Lanesboro Sales Barn and delivering new cement trucks for McNeilus Companies all over the United States. He was a member of the American Legion in Harmony and was a past commander and officer. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony. Everett is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his children, Ann Thacher, Richard and Michael Junge of Harmony, Katherine (Bruce) Everett of W. Barnstable, Mass., and Robert (Melissa) Junge of Cresco, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Lowell, LeRoy and Dallas Junge.
The funeral Mass was Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Nativity Catholic Church in Harmony with Msgr. Donald Schmitz officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in the Bristol Cemetery in rural Harmony. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston handled arrangements.
