William ‘Bill’ Henry Dudley, 61, of Chatfield, died Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Chatfield.
Bill was born July 25, 1950, in Decatur Ill., to J.C. and Esther (Young) Dudley. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1968. He joined the US Army on April 27, 1970, and was in the Vietnam War. On June 16, 1973, he married Sue Schroeder at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield. Bill worked as a FMC operator at Pace Dairy Foods.
He was a member of the VFW of Chatfield, Post # 6913. Bill enjoyed fishing, his grandkids’ activities, watching the birds, snowmobiling, and collecting model trains.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Chatfield; one son, Eric of Chatfield; one daughter, Jennifer (Andy) O’Connor of Chatfield; two grandchildren, Kennedy O’Connor and Drew O’Connor; his mother, Esther of Chatfield; and one brother, Roger (Dorothy) Dudley of Chatfield.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
A memorial service was held Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, with the Rev. Preston Paul officiating. Burial was in the Chatfield Cemetery with military graveside honors by VFW Post # 6913 of Chatfield. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
