Ethel M. Vreeman

Ethel Vreeman, age 94, of Spring Valley died Thursday July 26, 2012, at the Spring Valley Senior Living where she had resided for about 1 ½ years.

Ethel Mae Grooters was born September 16, 1917, near Greenleafton to James and Anna (Elfrink) Grooters. She was baptized and Confirmed at the Greenleafton Reformed Church and attended school at the Prairie Queen Country School. On June 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Everett Vreeman at the home of her parents near Greenleafton and to this union 13 children were born.

Ethel was a homemaker that enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she always enjoyed company and enjoyed serving cookies to her visitors, especially her “Date Pinwheel Cookies.” She was a member of the homemakers group and was a lifelong member of the Greenleafton Reformed Church.

She is survived by six sons; Gerald (Judy) Vreeman, Bill (Janet) Vreeman and Randy (Cheryl) Vreeman all of Spring Valley, Ivan (Tami) Vreeman of Harmony, Rocky (Jodi) Vreeman of Wykoff and Scott (Deb) Vreeman of Rochester, five daughters; Pauline (Jerry) Barth of Spring Valley, Donna (John Grupp) Stanger of Oronoco, Harriet (Rich) Berger of Greenville, IA; Judy (Don) Orum of LeRoy and Audrey (Chuck) Rathbun of Rochester; 24 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 30 great- grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, two brothers; Perlum and Levern both of Spring Valley, MN; and two sisters-in-law; Glenice Grooters of Preston and Phyllis Grooters of Harmony.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett on February 27, 2002, one son, one daughter, two great-grandsons, one sister Dorothy Scheevel and two brothers; Harlan and Wallace Grooters.

Funeral services for Ethel M. Vreeman were held Monday July 30, 2012, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church in Greenleafton, Minn. with the Rev Roger Lokker officiating. Burial was in the Greenleafton Cemetery. Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley handled arrangements.
